My First Web Page in HTML Reflections
In this project, I learned how to use various different HTML tags in order to make my personal web page that I presented in class. This assignment was simply something we did in order to get familiar with using HTML tags. It was also a chance for us to get to know one another.
- For this assignment, I was given a piece of paper with a list of personal questions, like "What is your name?", "Why did you take this course?", or "What places have you lived in?". I had to use a lot of different HTML tags. The teacher challenged the class to include hyperlinks and images in our web pages, and also to include additional information about ourselves.
- I had to familiarize myself with multiple HTML tags. I had to make sure that I typed in the tags verbatim into Notepad if I wanted to use them for my web page, or else the tags would not be read properly, or at all. I also had to learn how to insert a hyperlink, change the font, change the font size, insert a background color, and other things like that, which was not an easy thing to do because of the complexity of the corresponding codes.
- By doing this assignment, I learned that creating web pages using HTML code is not something that is easy. It is a very tedious process, and if you mess up the code in any small way, the code is unable to be read and it does not show up on the web page, which is frustrating. However, I was able to create a web page that included an order list, a body, a paragraph, a heading, different color fonts, and a hyperlink. I also was able to list a few things about myself that answered the questions given to me on the assignment sheet. I was also able to figure out what I was doing wrong when I was inputting the code, and to fix the error. For example, I found that the reason why I was unable to have my background color show was because I did not insert the color's proper HTML name.
- These are some things that I did well in this project. I included much more information about myself than was asked. I also used multiple font colors and I put in a hyperlink to a website that related to my information.
- To improve my work, I would have made sure that I kept saving both the text document and the HTML document. I also would have included an image on the page. And I would have selected a larger font. When I was doing this project, I quickly realized that this link was helpful because it gave me a pretty extensive list of codes that I could use to improve my page.
